The atmosphere is top-notch, everything looks amazing, and the attention to detail really shows. The food? Outstanding. Every bite was full of flavor, and the menu has something for everyone. Whether you’re stopping in for a drink or a full meal, you’ll leave impressed. So glad to see City Tavern open and thriving—can’t wait to come back!
City Tavern has always been a vibe. The new renovations make the place look bougie but still has that same welcoming energy as before. The slushies are a little toooo good (be careful of brain freeze) and they were playing some good music on a Tuesday night.
I haven’t been in a long time & we came last night to celebrate my birthday and it was a good experience. The food was good! & the slushies were also good! Our guy gave me a drink on the house which was super sweet! Would return!
My wife and I dined at City Tavern about a month ago while visiting Greenville to attend a women’s college volleyball game our daughter was playing in. We stopped in for lunch. My wife originally ordered the fried mushrooms, but a few minutes later, our server informed us that, unfortunately, they were out of them. She selected a replacement dish instead. About 15 minutes later, the server returned and told us that their chef, a genuinely kind and thoughtful person, felt it was unacceptable to be out of something as simple as mushrooms. So, he actually went down the road to Publix, bought fresh mushrooms, and personally prepared the dish for her. They brought the mushrooms to our table, freshly made and on the house, since she had already received the alternate dish. We were blown away by this level of care and service. What made this gesture even more meaningful was that my wife had just completed cancer treatment a few weeks earlier. Her taste buds were still recovering, and fried mushrooms were one of the few foods she could actually taste and enjoy. Their kindness meant a great deal to us. I ordered a salad topped with salmon, and it was equally excellent... fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. We highly recommend City Tavern, and we’ll definitely return the next time we’re in the Greenville, SC area.
I always have a great time when I come here. Every bartender and server is great but Larkin really makes for an eventful and enjoyable night out. I try to make sure she’s working when I come through.
We wanted to try the new and improved place so a group of 6 of us went out for drinks and dinner. Other than how loud it was in the place, it was a great night! First of all, the service was great. Our server told us that all the servers work together so no need to just ask for her if we needed anything. In fact, three different ones came by to ask if there was anything else we needed throughout the evening. No idea that they had a happy hour! Although the drinks weren't discounted, appetizers were buy one get one free until 7pm. The stuffed mushrooms were the best I've ever had. The mini ham and Hawaiian rolls were delicious. Everyone was happy with their meals, too. I had the Big BLT. The egg on it was a bit odd, but it was very good. One person raved about their Cajun Philly cheesesteak. The wedge salad was huge. Overall, everyone was satisfied. Although the music was loud and a bit heavy metal for my tastes, we still really enjoyed ourselves. We will likely be returning!
The City Tavern had a face lift recently and it looks terrific. Open doors to the sidewalk, plenty of screens with sports and a long, inviting bar. I popped in on a whim and had a few beers while watching a MLB game. Really good experience. I have not tried the food BUT from what I saw and smelled, it looked very good (the smell of their wing sauce is very tantalizing). I'm going back soon and will report on the food but won't be surprised if its terrific.
Best bar downtown. Owners are great people and always there to help you out. Food is delicious!
been here a couple times. regular at society, but decided to check out their sister bar a few times. food isn't as good but the atmosphere is pretty much on par. the bartenders are absolutely amazing. larkin is an absolute angel, chayce is also just a magnificent person, lyndsey, i adore her and she's always more than willing to accommodate. we have a great time here. would definitely recommend if you're looking for a slightly higher end bar experience.
